{"id":3501,"date":"2026-08-31T21:00:50","date_gmt":"2026-08-31T19:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rwandatribune.rw\/en\/?p=3501"},"modified":"2026-08-31T21:00:53","modified_gmt":"2026-08-31T19:00:53","slug":"drc-extends-goma-border-crossing-hours-from-september-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rwandatribune.rw\/en\/2026\/08\/31\/drc-extends-goma-border-crossing-hours-from-september-1\/","title":{"rendered":"DRC extends Goma border crossing hours from September 1"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>GOMA, Democratic Republic of Congo, Aug. 31, 2026 \u2014 The AFC\/M23-appointed governor of Kivu Province has announced extended operating hours at the Petite Barri\u00e8re border crossing between Goma and Rwanda, starting Tuesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bahati Musanga Erasto, who was appointed governor by the AFC\/M23 administration in February 2025, said in an official statement issued Monday that the crossing would operate daily from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. from September 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Customs officials and other services operating at the crossing have been instructed to take the necessary measures to implement the new schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Petite Barri\u00e8re is one of the main crossing points between Goma and Rwanda&#8217;s neighbouring city of Rubavu, used by residents, traders and other travellers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The announcement comes as the AFC\/M23 administration continues to exercise control over Goma and large parts of Kivu Province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Congolese government in Kinshasa does not recognise the parallel administration established by AFC\/M23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Mwizerwa Ally<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Rwandatribune.rw<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GOMA, Democratic Republic of Congo, Aug. 31, 2026 \u2014 The AFC\/M23-appointed governor of Kivu Province has announced extended operating hours at the Petite Barri\u00e8re border crossing between Goma and Rwanda, starting Tuesday.
