{"id":3604,"date":"2026-09-22T16:51:52","date_gmt":"2026-09-22T14:51:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rwandatribune.rw\/en\/?p=3604"},"modified":"2026-09-22T16:51:55","modified_gmt":"2026-09-22T14:51:55","slug":"south-kivu-general-ngomanzito-says-he-is-about-7-kilometres-from-minembwe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rwandatribune.rw\/en\/2026\/09\/22\/south-kivu-general-ngomanzito-says-he-is-about-7-kilometres-from-minembwe\/","title":{"rendered":"South Kivu: General Ngomanzito Says He Is About 7 Kilometres From Minembwe"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>General Ngoma Nzito, who is involved in fighting between Twirwaneho fighters and an alliance of armed groups in the Hauts Plateaux area, has said his forces are now about seven kilometres from the centre of Minembwe.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ngomanzito said the fighters under his command are currently positioned approximately seven kilometres from Minembwe-Centre, as fighting and security operations continue in different parts of the Hauts Plateaux, in Fizi Territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His remarks come amid continued insecurity in the area, with the opposing sides providing conflicting accounts of developments on the battlefield and the areas they control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although General Ngomanzito says his forces are about seven kilometres from Minembwe-Centre, there has so far been no independent confirmation of the reported location of his fighters or evidence from an independent source indicating that Minembwe town is on the verge of being captured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Minembwe is located in Fizi Territory, South Kivu Province, in the Hauts Plateaux region, an area that has frequently experienced fighting involving different armed groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following General Ngomanzito\u2019s statements, Rwanda Tribune attempted to contact Colonel Rugabo, spokesperson for MRDP-Twirwaneho, for further information about the situation in the area and the reported developments on the battlefield.
