AFC/M23 Coordinator Corneille Nangaa joined local authorities and residents of Goma in a tree-planting campaign dubbed “Goma Verte” (Green Goma), an initiative aimed at protecting the environment and increasing forest cover in the city.

According to Life UP TV, Nangaa participated alongside the Mayor of Goma, Désiré Ngabo Kisuba, in the event, which took place across several parts of the city. The campaign seeks to promote environmental conservation and help address the effects of climate change through large-scale tree planting.

Photos shared on social media show Corneille Nangaa and other officials wearing green outfits specially prepared for the event as they planted trees along roads and in public spaces across Goma.

The initiative comes as AFC/M23 continues to control the city of Goma and several other areas in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

The movement has repeatedly stated that, in addition to its security operations, it is prioritizing governance reforms, sanitation, environmental protection, and infrastructure development in the territories under its administration.
