Residents near the ‘Cité de l’OUA’ area where the office of the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo is located last night heard a loud gunshot, causing fear.

When the gunshots first began to be heard in this area located in the Ngaliema commune in the city of Kinshasa, most did not know what was happening, but they were a sign that the security of the government offices there was unreliable.

About an hour after the gunshots began to be heard, it was revealed that they were fired when more than 30 prisoners tried to escape from the Military Prosecution Service, which was holding them in its cell in Ngaliema.

Soldiers from the Guardia Civil (GR) were the ones who searched for the escaped prisoners, and are said to have captured many of them and returned them to their cells.

One of the detainees was seen injured, his hands and shirt were covered in blood.

He could be heard pleading with the soldiers who had him sit on the ground and were interrogating him.

It was the morning of July 22, 2026, and the soldiers were still searching for the missing prisoners to return them to their cells.
